Amy Poag Baker '98

FORMER President

Amy grew up in Franklin, Tennessee where she graduated from Franklin High School and followed her soccer career to Maryville College in 1994.  Amy was a 4-year student athlete for the MC Women’s Soccer team and graduated in 1998 with a degree in Psychology.  In 2003, she earned a master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.  Amy has been working in the medical field since 1999 and holds multiple certifications in medical coding, auditing, and practice management.

In 2013, Amy cofounded Synergy Consulting Services, LLC with a physician partner and in 2019 she became the sole owner of the medical billing, coding, and consulting company.  Amy prides herself in helping new providers start their own business in the medical field as well as creating flexibility in their schedules.

Amy has been a member of the BCAA Executive Board since 2018 and in 2021 became President of the board.  Amy’s goals during her leadership include creating a BCAA website, relationship development with active students to show how active alums make a difference, increase the BCAA Endowment Scholarship and to engage more alumni members in our community.  Giving back is important to Amy as she knows that her successes started from what she learned at Maryville College; helping create those same experiences for Blount County students is humbling and so important to our community!

In addition to her BCAA volunteering, you are likely to find Amy at a soccer field in her spare time supporting her husband and 2 daughters.  Her husband of 12 years, Jon Baker, is Associate Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams at MC.  Her daughters Julie (15) and Emma (10) both enjoy playing the family sport!
