Barbara grew in Kingsport, TN and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. She came to Maryville College in the fall of 1967 after a friend who was attending MC said, “You should come here. You will love it.” That was an understatement.

While at MC Barbara majored in Psychology , served as an RA for three years, participated in the work-study program and belonged to Psi Chi, the Psychology Club.

After graduating from MC in 1971, Barbara worked for First Tennessee/First Horizon Bank for 26 years in Human Resources. After early retirement from banking, Barbara returned to MC to work for ten years in Financial Aid. Her favorite part of working at the college was managing the work-study program helping students to find on-campus jobs that would help prepare them for jobs after graduating.

Barbara is excited to be serving on the MC Blount County Alumni Board again and becoming more involved with the college.
